I am a Catholic Christian. I put it that way, instead of as "a Catholic", because a lot of people believe that Catholics aren't Christians. In fact, Catholics are the largest part of Christendom; the Catholic Church currently has between 1.2 and 1.5 billion adherents, which is at least 60% of all Christians on the planet. The church founded by Jesus Christ subsists in the Catholic Church. I am not a trained apologist; the Catholic Church has not authorised me to speak on its behalf. But I am a reasonably well-catechised Catholic lad, who has increased his own knowledge and understanding of God's things through a lot of reading and listening over the past 60 years. If I use any professional skills on this site, they will be the techniques of rational understanding and analysis that I learned during my legal studies and career. I am not here to start or to win arguments. Corrections and alternative points of view are always welcome, if they are offered sensibly and politely. I discuss things so that I can learn more about them, not to show that I know more about them. The day when I stop learning will be the day when I leave this life and pass into Eternity, which will also be the day when I learn everything. I ask just one thing - if you make comments about any of my posts, please don't be rude or personally hostile. Play the ball, not the man, and avoid ad hominem remarks.
